How much space is needed for a commercial laundry?

Allow for machine footprints, door opening, service access, utilities, ventilation and working aisles. Include sorting, clean-linen storage, folding and packing areas. The required area depends on the equipment and workflow, so use an approved layout before site work.

What utilities should be ready before machine installation?

Depending on the equipment, prepare the specified electrical supply and earthing, water, drainage, exhaust, steam, condensate return and compressed air. Use the approved model-specific drawings and confirm site readiness with the installation team.

Can commercial laundry machines be installed on an upper floor?

Suitability depends on structural loading, vibration, access, drainage and the selected equipment. Obtain a structural assessment and IFB’s installation requirements before placing machines on an upper floor.

Does every commercial laundry machine need compressed air?

No. Some machines list no compressed-air requirement, while certain larger washer extractors, barrier washers and finishing equipment require it. Check the complete equipment schedule and the pressure and connection specified for each machine.

Can hard water affect commercial laundry performance?

Hard water can affect chemical performance and contribute to deposits. Test the site water and select treatment and chemical dosing suitable for the machines and process. Do not assume domestic water-treatment features are included in commercial models.

Can domestic laundry detergents be used in commercial machines?

Use chemicals approved for the selected commercial machine and wash process. Dosing, foaming, fabric compatibility and water quality must be considered. Ask IFB or the chemical supplier to define a suitable programme and dosage.

How often should commercial laundry equipment be cleaned?

Follow the cleaning and preventive-maintenance schedule in each machine’s manual. Routine tasks may include accessible surfaces, chemical dispensers and dryer lint collection areas. Frequency depends on utilisation and soil levels; trained service personnel should handle internal maintenance.

What should I do if a machine displays an error code?

Record the model, serial number, exact code and the stage at which it appeared. Follow only the operator checks listed in the manual. If the fault persists, stop use as instructed and request service rather than repeatedly resetting the machine.

What should I do if a washer vibrates excessively?

Stop operation according to the manual and check whether the load is uneven or outside the permitted capacity. Do not bypass the out-of-balance protection. If vibration continues with correct loading, arrange an inspection of the installation and machine.

Can I open the washer door immediately after a cycle?

Wait until the drum has stopped and the machine releases the door in accordance with its operating sequence. Never force the door or bypass its lock. If it remains locked, follow the manual or contact service.
